The Promised Bridge

The Promised Bridge is a debut photobook by Kelvin Ah Kian.

From 2014 to 2019, Kelvin embarked on a personal journey to document the shorelines of his hometown Labuan, driven by a desire to preserve his memories of the landscape. The project was sparked by the 2012 election promise of a proposed bridge linking the island to the mainland Sabah - a development that stirred both anticipation and apprehension.

While the bridge remains unbuilt, evocative series stands as a tribute to a time and place that shaped the artist and reflects his enduring bond with home, even as life carries him elsewhere.
